A Glimpse of Potential Presents (If You Order Them Quickly Enough)

posted in Other Cars, Formula 1 |

We had a bit of a samples extravaganza today.

From Mattel, we received samples of the 1:18 2007 Kimi Raikkonen Australia special (DC2706A), and the 1:43 Michael Schumacher Five Ferrari Championships presentation (HW6237).

The Raikkonen special is limited to 3,333 pieces and both of the driver figure’s arms are raised, as Kimi’s were when he crossed the finish line to celebrate his hat trick in Melbourne of pole position, fastest lap, and the win.

The Schumacher special is a bit different, with his five championship winning Ferraris fanned out on the display. Specifically, these are his Ferraris from the 2000 Japanese Grand Prix, 2001 Belgian Grand Prix, 2002 British Grand Prix, 2003 Austrian Grand Prix, and 2004 Hungarian Grand Prix. It is limited to 5,555 pieces, and like the Raikkonen Australia special we expect it in time for Christmas.

Not to be outdone, Universal Hobbies also sent us a sample of a very significant forthcoming replica, of their 1:16 Massey Ferguson 135 tractor (J2698). There will be only one delivery of this before Christmas, and we have already sold most of our allocation, so if you don’t want to end up waiting until 2008 for this one you should get your order in soon.

Last thing we also heard that the price of the Mattel 1:18 Lewis Hamilton First Win special (DC2702MC), mentioned on the 5th October, has been confirmed at £79.99.

    Hi Leigh,

do you have any idea as to when the 1/43 2007 F1 ferraris will come through?

Mattel originally said the middle of October, but they’re release dates seem to have slipped by about a month since they announced that, so now I hope to see them by the middle of November.

Regarding the Mattel Hamilton Canada special, Mattel have not provided us with any detailed information yet, but looking at their graphic I would expect this to come with a standing driver figure.

    Hi Leigh!

How about the Minichamps Lewis First Win? Will it come with a driver figure like the Kimi first win??

Minichamps haven’t mentinoned a separate driver figure, so I don’t think their version will come with one.

Whilst on the subject of specials, any chance of someone making a presentation of McLaren’s 1-2 in Monza???
It’s not everyday that Ferrari get absolutely trounced in their back garden. And especially with that move by Lewis going past Raikkonen!!!
I’d love to have a 2 car 1:43 presentation to commemorate that win for us, even if Mattel made it!!

Errr……..if anything’s ever announced, it will be on the diary! I’ve never had a request for a ‘humiliation’ special before! What was wrong with their 1-2s in Malaysia, Monaco or Indy?!

It says on your website that the 2007 1:18 Mattel Hamilton 1st win special is due 2007, but Mattel say March 2008, who is corrct?

Mattel are correct! We’re just going through all the products on our website now, changing the due dates to 2008 where appropriate.

Nothing was wrong with McLarens 1-2 in either Monaco, Indy or Malaysia. But the Mattel 1:18 McLarens seem to be as they were at Malaysia, the 1:8 Amalgam Hamilton first win is obviously in the low downforce setup as was in Canada and US. The monaco setup is similar to the normal look of the cars as it should be in Minichamps McLarens, but there’s no replica of our setup in Monza!!! I’m not a bias man, They can make a presentation for one of Ferrari’s 1-2s aswell!!
