We received several new items today. From Minichamps, there were some new 1:43 replicas, including David Coulthard’s 2007 Red Bull RB3 (DC27414) and the latest release in their World Champions collection, Nelson Piquet’s 1983 Brabham BT52B (P830005).
Meanwhile, Spark released their 1:18 replica of the 2006 Audi R10 testcar in its menacing matt black livery (SPA180009), and Red Line released their extremely highly detailed 1:43 replica of Kimi Raikkonen’s winning Ferrari F2007 from the 2007 Australian Grand Prix (RL140), which is a limited edition of just 1,200 pieces worldwide.

Mattel provided us with images for their two forthcoming 1:18 Ferrari Mondial 8 replicas today. These are the regular Elite car (HW2987), and the Ferrari 60th Anniversary version (HW2984).
Minichamps also confirmed today the details of their 2008 catalogue. It should be available by the middle of February (MCCAT08), and can be pre-ordered from us now. Last year’s edition was a big hit for us and we expect this one to do just as well.

Today there’s big news for the tractor collectors out there, as Universal Hobbies confirmed two new 1:16 replicas that are due for release later this year.
The first is admittedly a variation of an existing model, the Massey Ferguson 135. This new replica will come complete with a cab, the first 1:16 Universal Hobbies tractor to do so (J2697).
The second new subject is the Massey Double TE 20 (J2700), following on from the massive success of the first ‘double tractor’ that we offered, the Doe Triple D (J2641).
Amazingly, tractor replicas are consistently among our best sellers, even though we’re primarily a motorsport company! It’s never truer than for a tractor when we say that first shipments are often completely sold out to pre-orders and that to avoid having to wait for the second delivery, you should order sooner rather than later.

Today Amalgam announced two new 1:43 models from the A1 GP series, the first time that diecast replicas from this championship have been made available. The first two teams will be New Zealand (AML801), with the Taupo event coming up soon, and Great Britain (AML802).
Also on the announcements side, Kyosho confirmed today that they will be releasing a 1:18 replica of the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (KY8431R) during the summer.

We received a new Norev delivery today, which had a good dozen new 1:18 releases on it. The highlights were the Lamborghini LP640 (NV187949), 1993 Le Mans winning Peugeot 905 (NV184773), and 2007 #8 Le Mans Peugeot 908 (NV184790). The rest can all be seen at the top of our New Releases category.
It wasn’t all new releases though; Mattel also announced a new 1:18 replica in Kimi Raikkonen’s 2007 Ferrari F2007 from the second half of the season in the darker more metallic shade of red (DC2706B). From the sample image we have been given it also looks like this will be released with the white stripe on the tyres denoting the softer compound.

Hopefully we won’t have another week as quiet as this in the diecast industry until at least this time next year! As I said yesterday though, it’s pretty normal for early January. It had never bothered me before, until the intense pressures of writing a daily diecast diary came to bear!
Two new releases were confirmed for delivery next week though; Spark’s 1:18 replica of the Audi R10 testcar (SPA180009), and Red Line’s 1:43 replica of Kimi Raikkonen’s winning Ferrari F2007 from last year’s Australian Grand Prix (RL140).

Today’s highlight was a new 1:18 arrival from Kyosho, their impressive 1:18 replica of the Audi R8 in blue with a silver blade (KY9213BL). When I say highlight, I actually mean that’s all that’s happened all day! The first couple of weeks after Christmas are always a bit quiet though, things will definitely pick up again this week!

As promised yesterday, today we have Sun Star’s new 1:18 classic rally cars available to pre-order, along with their new road car and bus/coach releases too. These can all now be viewed at the top of our New Announcements category.
The highlight of the classic rallying subjects is probably the first ever world rally champion’s car, Bjorn Waldegaard’s 1979 Ford Escort Mk.II (SS4441).
In their road car range, there is a new 1:12 Morris Minor in the form of the Traveller in green (SS4791), and, following on from the success of the 1:18 Escort XR3 (SS4972), a selection of new Escort Mk.III GIs from 1981 and 1984.
