A Sneak Peek at Kimi’s 200th Win!

posted in Diecast, Other Cars, Formula 1 |

Kyosho announced some new 1:18 road cars today, and although this would normally not be the most exciting news, as it would mean the latest variant of some BMW or Audi saloon, these were two replicas of the new Mini Clubman. They will be replicating the standard Clubman in silver (KY8745S), and the Clubman S in red (KY8746R).

Mattel also provided us with a sample image of their 1:18 special commemorating Ferrari’s 200th Formula One victory, via Kimi Raikkonen in the 2007 Chinese Grand Prix (DC2706C).

Well well, no surprise to see Mattel haven’t bothered to replicate the actual car (with new aero pieces), just sticking the standard car on a fancy plinth isn’t good enough! I only pre-ordered this version because I thought they were going to do that! Grrr!

This is only a sample image, really to show off the base, so I am hopeful that the car will come through with the correct China aero package. At last year’s Nuremberg Toy Fair, all of the Schumacher special samples were of the ‘normal’ car on the commemorative bases, but then when the specials were released the cars did have the correct aero pieces on.
