Only A Weekend To Go Before Price Rises

Things were considerably quieter today, with just the one new release from AUTOart, of the 1:18 Toyota FJ Cruiser from the 2006 Baja off-road rally (AA80716).

In closing, just a reminder that you haven’t got long to beat the price rises that will come into effect on 1st June, that I mentioned in the diary on 6th May. If you’ve already pre-ordered though, then don’t worry; sit back, relax, and enjoy the weekend!

And finally, just to let you know that this week’s Saturday Spectacular involves 10% off all in-stock Mattel replicas. Enjoy!

Minichamps Announce 2008 Moto GP Grid

Minichamps announced their 2008 1:12 Moto GP line-up today. We have also been informed that there will be some additional subjects confirmed next week.

The highlights are the two Fiat Yamahas of Valentino Rossi (PO83046), and Jorge Lorenzo (PO83048). After the amazing start to his Moto GP career, the Lorenzo bike could well be an instant sell-out, as I’m sure that several speculators out there will have pound signs in their eyes by planning to buy up his bike and then sell it on Ebay in the future, when he could potentially be a World Champion many times over.

Other notables are Casey Stoner (PO80001), Dani Pedrosa (PO81102), and James Toseland (PO83052). The other riders can currently be found at the top of our New Announcements section.

We also received a delivery from Amalgam, which takes care of their remaining 2007 Formula One subjects. The new releases are the 1:4 BMW F1.07 steering wheel (AML737), and the 1:12 nosecones of the Red Bull RB3 (AML734), and Toro Rosso STR2 (AML742).

Rossi’s 98 Aprilia Is Here

Today we received the latest Minichamps delivery. It was dominated by two major two-wheel releases; the 1:12 Honda CBX 1000 (P161500), and Valentino Rossi’s 1:12 1998 Aprilia 250 CCM (P980046).

In 1:43 scale, we now have Anthony Davidson’s 1:43 2001 British F3 Dallara (P010305), which is a limited edition of just 1008 pieces, and Jim Hall’s 1960 Maserati Birdcage (P601266).

Ready For The Minichamps June Release Schedule?

Today we received Minichamps’ June release schedule, and it is probably one of the most exciting I have ever seen. Several new Rossi releases are on it, as well as a new Senna car, and a lot of the ‘missing’ F1 cars from the 2006 season (but no, not the Button Hungary ‘First win’ Honda)!

Next week we will receive two Rossi releases; his 1:12 1996 Aprilia (P960046), and 1:12 riding figure from the Sachsenring in 2006 (PO60196), where he celebrated victory by wearing a Materazzi football shirt.

We will also see several new F1 releases. In 1:18 scale, there will be Fernando Alonso’s 2007 McLaren MP4/22 (DC2701). In 1:43, we will receive Rubens Barrichello’s 2006 black Honda RA106 testcar (DC26411T), Nick Heidfeld’s 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix BMW F1.06 (DC26416B), Takuma Sato’s 2006 ‘late season’ Super Aguri SA06 (DC26422B), Scott Speed’s 2007 Toro Rosso STR2 (DC27419), and Nelson Piquet Jnr’s 2008 Renault showcar (DC28406P). All in one week! Phew!

The following week sees another new Rossi release, in his 1:8 Mugello 2007 helmet (PO70876), and a load more F1 cars! These are all 1:43 scale, and are Christian Klien’s 2006 black Honda RA106 testcar (DC26411TK), Robert Kubica’s 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix BMW F1.06 (DC26417B), and Aguri Suzuki’s 2006 Super Aguri SA06 testcar (DC26424).

The week beginning 16th June we will receive what I consider the most exciting subject of the month; the 28th release in the 1:43 Ayrton Senna Racing Car Collection. It will be his 1983 British Formula 3 Championship winning Ralt RT3 (AS028). We will also see Valentino Rossi’s 1:43 2006 Mercedes DTM testcar (P063646), Scott Speed’s 1:43 2006 Toro Rosso STR1 (DC26421), and Sakon Yamamoto’s 1:43 2006 ‘late season’ Super Aguri SA06 (DC26423B).

The final week of the Rossi-dominated schedule sees his 1:12 2001 pre-season Honda NSR 500 test bike released (PO16946).

I normally say that as the weekly release schedules come out during the month we will see more new releases added onto them, but there is so much crammed onto this monthly release schedule that I wonder whether that will be the case this month!

The First 2008 F1 Release From Amalgam

Today Amalgam released their latest 1:8 Formula One car; Kimi Raikkonen’s winning Ferrari F2008 from the Malaysian Grand Prix (AML829).

Other than that, it’s been a bit of a quiet day again; no doubt everyone is ‘warming up’ for a nice three day Bank Holiday weekend! I’ll be working once more at Brands, with the historic meeting on this weekend; I seem to watch more F1 races in the Megastore there than anywhere else!

New BTCC Sierra

It’s been more of a quiet day today, and that’s not a way of saying that I spent three hours watching the Monaco F1 free practice on the internet (that was just an unrelated coincidence)!

There was one new announcement though, with Trofeu confirming the next release in their line of popular 1:43 BTCC Ford Sierras. This latest version will be the car driven to victory at Silverstone in 1987 by Win Percy (TR121).

Doohan’s Written On His Bike

It’s all signed news today. First off is that we are pleased to announce that, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, the car’s famous designer Leonardo Fioravanti will be signing a limited edition of just 40 examples of Mattel’s 1:18 replica of it for us (HW2980S).

The other piece of news is that we received Mick Doohan’s 1:12 1997 Honda NSR 500 today, complete with signed fairings from the five-time 500cc champion (P976101S).

We received the new Minichamps delivery today, headlined by their latest 500cc World Champion in 1:12 scale, Freddie Spencer’s 1985 Honda NSR 500 (P850004).

Also on the delivery were Alex Zanardi’s 1:43 2006 BMW F1.06 testcar (DC26499Z), and the garish 1:43 BP sponsored Porsche 956L from Le Mans 1983 (P836547).

Meanwhile, from CMC we received restocks of Stirling Moss’s 1:18 1955 Mille Miglia Mercedes 300 SLR (CMC066), so are once again able to supply it straight from stock.

LegendsInc catalogue now available

LegendsIncThe new lifestyle catalogue from Grand Prix Legends’ leisure arm LegendsInc is now available.

Most of our customers will know us for our motorsport merchandise and our diecast products, but much as we love everything with wheels and engines we’ve long felt a need to spread our wings.

And so, last year, we set out to create a catalogue of cool street clothing and branded it LegendsInc . We’ve sought out the kinds of brands we ourselves like to wear.

But often these ranges are still connected, in some way, with our heritage; that is to say with racing, engines, bikes and so on.

Fox, for example, still makes protective clothing and is heavily involved in motocross.

Lambretta may not make scooters any more but in the fifties and sixties, it was the marque to own the real thing.

Alpha Industries is a maker for the military but, in truth, our love of planes isn’t far behind our love of cars and bikes.

Dainese speaks for itself. The coolest bike gear around and the coolest casual clothing too.

Oakley is another brand that’s heavily into car racing, particularly in the US. They’re also pretty active in two wheels, both bikes with motors and bikes without.

Okay, so Canterbury has nothing to do with cars, wheels or engines. But they do make sportswear to die for.

Schott is another military name but, historically, they have made some of the most famous biker jackets of all time; jackets like the Brando Perfecto and the Easy Rider jacket.

Onfire very much comes out of bike racing, although these days, they’re quite into the game with an oval ball too. It’s great gear at amazing prices.

Which just leaves Danger Rocks!; a brand that encompasses everything we love. Cars, bikes, planes, bicycles it’s all about the adrenalin. And there’s no range of clothing out there that embodies the spirit of action, adventure and excitement better than Danger Rocks!

Anyway, we hope you like the collection we’ve put together. If you would like a legendsinc catalogue drop us a line on 08704603456.

Diecast news from Leigh later.
