We received the latest 1:12 Valentino Rossi bike today. It is the red and black 2001 summer test Honda RC211V (PO17946), and is the now ‘standard’ Rossi limited edition size of 9,999 pieces worldwide.
Last thing we also received a new delivery from Mattel. It has two very popular new releases on it, the 1:18 Ferrari Dino 246 GT in red (HW2044), and the 1:18 Kimi Raikkonen Championship special from the 2007 Brazilian Grand Prix (DC2706SP). The latter is a limited edtion of 6,667 pieces worldwide.

Today we received the first new Minichamps delivery of 2009!
This first delivery was jam packed too, with no less than three 1:18 2008 F1 cars; the BMW F1.08s of Nick Heidfeld (DC2803) and Robert Kubica (DC2804), and the McLaren MP4/23 of Heikki Kovalainen (DC2823). It looks like the Kubica version will sell out soon though so don’t wait too long on that one.
In 1:43 there was Rubens Barrichello’s Honda RA108 (DC28417), and Giancarlo Fisichella’s Force India VJM01 (DC28421).
Also in 1:18 was a new road car that we have been waiting a good couple of years for, the Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 in red (PG120500).
There was a surprise regarding next week’s Minichamps delivery too, as we will receive restocks of all three of Ayrton Senna’s 1:18 Lotuses; his 1985 97T (AS851), his 1986 98T (AS861), and his 1987 99T (AS871). There was no indication that we were about to receive those!

Today Mattel confirmed their new 2009 subjects, which are all due for release in 2009 AND 2010!
There’s an interesting new 1:18 ‘Ferraris in Movies’ collection, and some new Batman subjects as well, along with a whole host of 1:18 Elite releases including the replacement for the Ferrari F430, currently codenamed the F142.
From Formula One, there will be what could well be the only 1:18 Ferrari F2008 replica with a shark fin engine cover, Felipe Massa’s ‘hat trick’ car (victory, pole position, fastest lap) from the European Grand Prix at Valencia (DC2802V).
There will also be a 1:43 two car set commemorating Ferrari’s 2008 Constructors’ Championship (HW8784), and the two 2009 Ferrari F60s in 1:18 (DC2903 and DC2904) and 1:43 (DC29403 and DC29404) for both Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. After Massa comprehensively trounced Raikkonen last season, I’m surprised that Raikkonen will be running with #3 and Massa with #4.
So that we don’t drown our ‘New Announcements’ category with all of the new Mattel announcements, you can click here to see them in all their glory!
Other Mattel news is that it has been confirmed that we will see the 1:18 Kimi Raikkonen 2007 Brazilian GP Championship special (DC2706SP) and 1:18 Ferrari Dino 246 GT in red (HW2044) at the end of January.

We said at the end of last year that we didn’t think it would be long before the diecast manufacturers ‘adjusted’ their prices back up to what they were before the VAT rate changed, and it has now started happening.
All of AUTOart’s subjects that are due for release in the first quarter are now the same RRP with 15% VAT as they were with 17.5% VAT last year.
And today Universal Hobbies increased the prices of all their 1:16 tractors by £5, on top of their 17.5% VAT prices of last year.
It probably won’t be long before everyone else has followed suit.

There was a new announcement today, but a very highly priced one. It is the second BBR/Kyosho collaboration 1:18 Ferrari F430. We still have just one of the original red version remaining (BBR005A), while this second version will be white (BBR005B).
Hopefully next week all of the diecast manufacturers will have woken up and there will be considerably more to talk about!

Unfortunately the traditional slow news first week of the year continued today!
We were busy in the warehouse though, getting rid of a load of our ‘last ones’ that have been sitting on our shelves for too long and then putting them up on our eBay account at outrageously low starting prices!
You can click here to see what we have available at the moment, but you will have to wait until 7pm as the auctions are not set to start until then!

Things have been a bit quieter today; no new announcements, no new releases. What is a diecast blogger to do?!
Fortunately I have something to talk about, as we are celebrating Lewis Hamilton’s 24th birthday by offering 24% off Minichamps’ 1:43 specials of his first podium (DC27402A) and first win (DC27402C) until Friday.
