Stoner’s A Sell-out!
Today’s news was the new Minichamps release schedule, and the number of sell-outs of Casey Stoner replicas!
The first week of the schedule is for the week beginning the 13th July, and has the 1:18 Jenson Button ‘First Win’ special on it, from Hungary 2006 (DC2612H), and the two 1:12 Casey Stoner figures that we have been waiting for; his 2006 riding version (PO60127) and his 2007 ‘champagne celebration’ version (PO70227).
Surprisingly though, both of the Stoner figures are already sold out to pre-orders. Sometimes you just never can tell what will be an instant hit and what won’t. Another case study in the importance of pre-ordering!
And if that wasn’t enough, we sold out of the 1:12 Stoner 2007 Ducati Desmodedici (PO70027) today as well!
In the second week of the schedule we will see the 1:12 MV Agusta F4 Tamburini (P121700), and the Ayrton Senna 1:2 1988 helmet (P883212), which has been put back by a couple of weeks. We were originally expecting it at the end of June.
The following week we will see two 1:12 classic bikes that we have been waiting some time for. The first of these is the Honda CB100R (P161700). The second is the Barry Sheene Suzuki XR14 from the 1975 Assen Grand Prix, which was his very first win in 500cc (P750006).
The last week of the schedule (week beginning 3rd August) we will see the Lewis Hamilton 1:18 2008 McLaren MP4/23 from the Brazilian Grand Prix (DC2822B), where he won the world championship in such dramatic circumstances.
And finally, a replica that I’ve had on my pre-order list for a good couple of years, the next subject in the 1:43 Ayrton Senna Racing Car Collection. It will be the 29th release in the series, and will be of his 1983 Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix winning Ralt RT3 (AS029).
