It hasn’t been the busiest start to a week in the diecast industry that I have ever seen! We didn’t have any new deliveries today, but we did receive news that two significant 1:18 replicas will be released this week.
These are the Mattel Steve McQueen Ferrari 250 Berlinetta (HW9912), and the Shelby Collectibles Aston Martin DBR1 that won Le Mans in 1959 (DC559). This was driven by Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby, and it shouldn’t be too long before our version signed by Salvadori (DC559S) is also available.
Our ‘Hot Model Of The Day’ is AUTOart’s 1:18 Bugatti Veyron in blue/black (AA70907).

Today we introduced a new feature on our website called ‘Hot Model Of The Day’, quite appropriate given the scorching temperatures we have had all day!
Every weekday there will be a new hot model of the day, which will always have free UK shipping, so it will be worth giving us a visit during your daily surfing to see if it’s something that appeals to you. Of course, Friday’s model of the day will also be eligible for UK free shipping throughout the weekend as well.
Our first ‘winner’ is AUTOart’s superb 1:18 Lamborghini Reventon (AA74591). So, if you’ve not bought one yet, from now until the end of Sunday is the time to!
We were also surprised today to receive Universal Hobbies’ 1:16 Fordson E27N Roadless (J2801) so soon, having only received sample images of it yesterday!

Today we received sample images of Universal Hobbies’ next 1:16 tractor, the Fordson E27N Roadless (J2801). They surprised us in that they didn’t really look anything like the image that we previously had up on the website to advertise it! That image showed a tractor with small front wheels and tracks at the rear, but the actual model will come through with four large wheels, like the Ford County Super-4 (J2787).
Incidentally, the County Super-4 is in our summer sale, which we will launch tomorrow, but the diecast sale prices have taken effect already so all you diary readers out there can get in early! You can click here for sale 1:18 replicas, here for sale 1:12 models, here for sale 1:43s, here for 1:8s, and here for all other scale replicas in the sale.

Today we at last received the major new AUTOart shipment that has been gradually inching its way to us from Asia over the last few weeks!
It was well worth waiting for though, as there are several exciting new 1:18 releases on it. My favourite is definitely the Lamborghini Reventon (AA74591), and the Red Bull sponsored BMW Z4 that won the Silverstone 24 Hours in 2007 (AA80745) also looks great as well.
Other new subjects of interest are the Jaguar XKR coupe in silver (AA73638), the Lancia Fulvia in red (AA74701), and the fourth colourway of the Lamborghini Espada, also red (AA74503).
The conundrum surrounding the #009 Aston Martin DBR9 from Le Mans 2008 (AA80806) was also solved; is it showcar, or racecar? The answer is that it is definitely more showcar than racecar. It has an extra couple of sponsor decals than the ‘original’ limited edition showcar that was released last year, but it is still devoid of driver names and Le Mans registration markings.
We also received some long-awaited 1:18 restocks, the main ones being the Bugatti Veyrons in blue/black (AA70907), and red/black (AA70906). So, after a wait of about nine months, these are finally available straight off the shelf again!
Also now finally back in our warehouse are the 1:18 Lotus Cortina (AA75331), and the 1:12 Jaguar D-Type that won Le Mans in 1955 (AA12062). Take advantage now while all these are available, because once the replicas on this delivery are sold out who knows how long it will be before we see them again!

Of course, the big news today was that Michael Schumacher has had to cancel his Formula One comeback due to the injuries in his neck from his Superbike crash at the beginning of the year. I can’t imagine that we’ll get the same number of requests for Luca Badoer ‘Comeback’ specials as we did for Schumacher!
We received the week’s new deliveries from Spark and Minichamps today.
I’m still a big fan of Spark’s 1:43 classic F1 replicas. The detail on them is superb, and the fact they come with driver figures as well makes them all the more impressive. The latest two are both BRM P57s, Graham Hill’s winning car from Monaco 1963 (SPK1628), and Tony Maggs’ version from the British GP in 1964 (SPK1666). The Hill car even has a moustache on the driver figure!
Two more interesting new releases from Spark are the Opel RAK 3 railroad vehicle (SPK822), and the Mini Cabriolet in dark blue (SPK1505).
Meanwhile, the two highlights on the Minichamps delivery were George Follmer’s 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera from the IROC series (P736304), and the Ford OSI 20M TS in red (P087021).

Today we received two of the cheapest 1:43 replicas that we have offered in recent times, which is probably why they have proven such a hit with our customers!
They are both from Yat Ming, and are of the ‘Eleanor’ Shelby GT500E from ‘Gone In Sixty Seconds’ (YM43202), and the famous Steve McQueen driven Ford Mustang GT from ‘Bullitt’ (YM43207).
At just £14.99 each, you can’t go wrong!

Today we got the newly confirmed Minichamps 2009 ‘Edition 2’ announcements up on our website to pre-order. They currently take up the first six pages of our New Announcements section, which you can reach by clicking here.
I wonder how Nico Rosberg has been able to establish a monopoly on Minichamps replicas of current F1 drivers’ helmets. He already had a 1:2 2008 helmet announced (P080007), and now he has a 1:8 version as well (P080007B)!
Alongside the usual mix of 1:43 road and race car replicas, an interesting subject is Minichamps’ first ever ‘stone’ replica, of a granite sculpture of a Volkswagen Golf GTI (P059000)!
