Today we received a single new 1:18 replica from AUTOart, which was the highlight of the diecast news today!
It is the Nissan Skyline GTR R34 Sport in blue (AA77359).
Aside from that, we cracked on with preparing our January 2010 issue of Diecast Monthly, and braced ourselves for the onslaught of new deliveries that are due to arrive with us next week!

Today we received some delivery dates for two of our dearer (but still extremely collectible) diecast replicas.
CMC’s 1:18 Ferrari 250 GT from the 1961 Le Mans 24 Hours (CMC079) is due with us next week. Truescale Miniatures confirmed that their next 1:18 Porsche 935, the Coca Cola version from the 1980 Daytona 24 Hours (TSM09184) will arrive in January.
We also received restocks of Universal Hobbies’ 1:16 Ferguson TEA 20 tractor (J2690), that we have been waiting for some time for. The Nuffield Universal 4 (J2715) is still due to arrive us at the end of next week. Fingers crossed!

Today we received Amalgam’s latest 1:12 2009 Formula One nosecones, for the McLaren MP4/24 (AML926) and the Ferrari F60 (AML925). The McLaren nosecone has Lewis Hamilton’s #1 on it, and I was very pleased to see that the Ferrari nosecone has Kimi Raikkonen’s #4 on it!
We have also managed to obtain just six of this year’s Autosport Award table centres, signed by Jenson Button himself (DC2922AA). Only 140 have been produced, so if you want the ultimate in collectibility, you need look no further!

To make up for the shortfall of new arrivals yesterday, we were flooded with new diecast as Minichamps, Spark and HPI all showed up!
Two new 1:43 2009 F1 cars from Minichamps were Rubens Barrichello’s 2009 Brawn GP (DC29423) and Mark Webber’s Red Bull RB5 (DC29414). A new addition to the 1:12 classic bike range was the Yamaha Vmax (P163700). The Ford Focus ST in orange (P087302) and the blue Audi RS6 (P017200) were the highlights for 1:43 road cars.
Spark presented new models from the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours. They were the #24 (SPK1526) and #35 (SPK1527) Pescarolo 01s, and also the #73 Chevrolet Corvette (SPK1531).
HPI rounded things off, with 1:43 replicas of the iconic Volvo 850 estates of Jan Lammers (HP8112) and Rickard Rydell (HP8113) from the 1994 British Touring Car Championship.
Alain Prost fans are also in for a treat, as today it was confirmed that he will be signing the Minichamps 1:18 replica of his 1993 Williams FW15 (PG930002WCS) in which he won his fourth and final Formula One World Championship. This is great news since the cancellation of his 1985 McLaren replica.

We didn’t receive any new releases to start this week off, but we did receive some sample images of models we expect to see released shortly.
First up, we have the new metallic base for our exclusive 2009 Formula One World Champion presentation (DC2009). It will have the matt finish that last year’s version did, but we also saw another sample in a mirrored finish that looked really cool and we’re already thinking about having that for our 2010 presentation! We expect to be able to despatch the 2009 presentation in January.
Then we have Universal Hobbies’ next 1:16 tractor, the Nuffield Universal 4 (J2715). This is due to be released next week, so the week before Christmas. If everything arrives in the next couple of weeks that we have been told to expect, then we are going to have a very busy time ahead of us!

Today Amalgam provided us with sample images of their next two 2009 Formula One nosecones, which we hope to see released next week.
These are of the McLaren MP4/24 (AML926), and the Ferrari F60 (AML925).
Now available are two new 1:8 Amalgam replicas, Jenson Button’s Brawn BGP001 from this year’s Brazilian Grand Prix, where he became World Champion (AML938), and the Ferrari 458 Italia (AML941), the first 1:8 Amalgam car to come with opening doors.

Today Mattel announced their new subjects for 2010.
Following on from their ‘Ferraris in films’ collection that was started this year, next year we will see a ‘Ferrari Music industry’ collection. The highlights are Nick Mason’s 512S (HW6253) and Jay Kay’s black Enzo (HW6255).
In Mattel’s 1:18 Elite range, the most exciting new subject is the 599XX (HW6251).
In 1:43, Mattel have announced a Ferrari F1 drivers’ champions collection, and ‘Monography’ collections for three of their most lauded drivers who did not win the world championship for them; Gilles Villeneuve, Jean Alesi and Mario Andretti.
Ferrari’s 2010 Formula One cars have been announced too, for Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso. Mattel have even already announced a special for Alonso in 1:18 and 1:43 scale, although obviously the details of this have not been confirmed yet.
I was most upset to see that a Raikkonen 2009 Belgian Grand Prix special hadn’t been announced! I’d assumed that was a given! You can click here to see all of Mattel’s new announcements.
We also had a new release from Mattel today, the 1:12 Foundation Batcycle from the 1960s Batman TV series (HW6923).
There was a delivery from HPI too, of the two 1:43 1994 BTCC Alfa Romeos of Gabriele Tarquini (HP8124) and Giampiero Simoni (HP8125). The detail on them is very impressive, and I didn’t expect them to be limited editions as well, and low ones at that; Tarquini is limited to 1,696 and Simoni to just 1,280.

I think I’ll have to leave the office in an armoured car today as I am about to unleash a whole load of bad news in today’s diary entry!
For starters, Minichamps’ 1:12 Valentino Rossi 2008 Yamaha YZR-M1 (PO83046) has been delayed by a couple of weeks. It was originally due with us on 7th December, but we now expect to receive it on either Friday 18th or Monday 21st December, so still just in time for Christmas!
AUTOart also confirmed what we will see from them in their December delivery in a couple of weeks, and what immediately caught my eye was a £10 increase in the new releases that we will see from them. I think it can safely be assumed that this will apply to all of their replicas that haven’t been released yet. I have asked for clarification as to whether we will see yet another price rise on the orange (AA79001) and silver (AA79003) Koenigseggs!
With Mattel’s 2010 1:18 Elite road car replicas retailing at £89.99 (these will be on our website tomorrow), you could easily argue that an AUTOart 1:18 replica is worth an extra £10 or £20 over a Mattel (as the main AUTOart pricepoints are now £99.99 and £109.99), but overall this diecast collecting lark is getting rather expensive!
Anyway, that’s a subject for another riveting editorial article in a future issue of Diecast Monthly!
The new 1:18 releases that we will see from AUTOart, by the way, are the A1 GP promotional car (AA18102), the red Alfa Romeo Montreal (AA70171), the red Volvo 850R Estate (AA79507), and the Porsche 911 Carrera RS in white and red (AA87370).
