We had some exciting news from Minichamps today. First off, we received a first image of the 1:12 Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo two Yamaha YZR-M1 and two figure set from the 2009 Barcelona Moto GP (PO94699).
It shows both figures in the position of having their heads down against the tank, as the two riders charged across the finish line just inches apart. The base of the flip lid box also features the finish line, so that you can create an exciting diorama replicating the finish of the race.
It was also confirmed today that the 1:43 and 1:18 specials of Lewis Hamilton from the 2010 Canadian Grand Prix (DC210402C and DC21002C) will come with a standing driver figure in the cockpit, replicating his pose from qualifying where he ran out of fuel and then steered the car back towards the pits while stood on the seat.
We received a new Mattel delivery today, headlined by the 1:43 two car set of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa’s Ferrari F10s from the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix (DC210408B2). You can click here to see all of Mattel’s latest new releases.
We also received two new 1:18 replicas from CMC as well, of the Rudolf Uhlenhaut Mercedes 300 SLR company car (CMC088) and Hermann Muller’s winning Auto Union Type D from the 1939 French Grand Prix (CMC089).

We were very excited today to receive news of more than 60 new 1:43 classic Formula One announcements from Spark. They’ve really taken over the 1:43 classic F1 scene.

The big news today was that Maisto announced 1:10 and 1:6 replicas of Valentino Rossi’s 2011 Ducati Desmosedici GP11 (R31193 and R32211). We saw samples of them at Nuremberg last week, and the good news is that we expect to see them released as early as June.
Whilst the quality of a Maisto is not up there with a Minichamps, you have to admit that the price is nowhere up there with a Minichamps either! In fact, both the 1:10 and 1:6 versions represent exceptional value for money.
We also received a new Spark delivery today. New 1:43 Formula One replicas included Peter Gethin’s famous winning BRM P160 from the 1971 Italian Grand Prix (SPK1749), Chris Amon’s Matra MS120 from the 1972 French Grand Prix (SPK1607), and Pedro de la Rosa’s 2010 Sauber C29 (DC210422K). His team-mate, Kamui Kobayashi (DC210423K) was completely sold out to pre-orders.
Other new Spark releases included the 2010 Le Mans winning Audi R15 (SPA43LM10), and Carlos Sainz’s 2010 Dakar Rally winning Volkswagen Touareg (SPK0826). You can click here to see all of Spark’s latest new releases.

Today’s diecast news is completely dominated by Minichamps.
First off, we have had a lot of customers asking if the Minichamps 1:12 two bike and two figure set of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo from Barcelona 2009 (PO94699) is really going to be released at the end of February, if there wasn’t a sample of it on show at Nuremberg.
Well, the story I heard was that it is completely pre-sold out with all of Minichamps’ importers, so it deliberately wasn’t put on show as they didn’t want any more demand generated for it as they are unable to take any more orders for it. We still have a few left to sell from our allocation, but it really looks like it’s not going to be around for long once it’s released. It is still on for the end of the month, by the way! Can you imagine the hype once a photo of it is published for the first time?
The other bit of Minichamps Valentino Rossi news concerns his 1:8 helmet from Valencia 2009 (PO90866). We were a bit confused when this was originally announced as it wasn’t any different from his ‘standard’ helmet that he campaigned for most of that season. However, after seeking clarification at Nuremberg we were told that it is actually his ‘chicken’ helmet from the 2009 end of season test at Valencia. So, that’s that one cleared up!
We also received a new Minichamps delivery today. It included the 1:43 Ford Focus RS in blue (P088101), but this was completely sold out to pre-orders. I don’t know what is about those Focuses! I couldn’t believe it when I saw one on eBay at a ‘Buy It Now’ price for £210 today!
Other new releases on the Minichamps delivery (ones that are still available!) included the 1:18 Bentley Mulsanne in black (PG139900), and the 1:43 ‘Top Gear’ Ford Focus RS in white (P438810).

Today Minichamps confirmed the release dates of two hotly anticipated motorbike replicas.
The first of these is the 1:6 Lawrence Of Arabia Brough Superior (PG135500), which we expect to see as early as next week.
The second release is the 1:12 Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo two bike and two figure set from the 2009 Barcelona Moto GP (PO94699). This subject has been shrouded in secrecy; I can’t believe we still have no idea what it is going to look like! Anyway, it is due to be released at the very end of February. Maybe we will see a sample of it on display at Nuremberg!
Talking of Nuremberg, we’re off to Germany tomorrow for this year’s Toy Fair. As ever we’ll bring you all the exciting news as it happens.
Finally today, we received a new IXO delivery. Highlights included the latest La Storia replica, of Phil Hill’s Ferrari 156 from the 1961 Italian Grand Prix (IXSF25), Colin McRae’s Talbot Sunbeam from the 1985 Galloway Hills Rally (RAC192), and Petter Solberg’s Citroen C4 WRC from the 2009 Rally of Spain (RAM398). You can click here to see all of IXO’s latest new releases.
