It’s All About Rallying!

posted in Diecast, Other Cars |

Today was all about rallying, as Spark announced 15 new subjects and Trofeu released three new replicas.

Less than a month after the opening event of the WRC, the Monte Carlo Rally, Spark has announced several of the cars that competed in the event in 1:43 scale.

For us, the most exciting subjects included the Ford Fiesta RS WRCs of Robert Kubica (SPK3792) and Elfyn Evans (SPK3791), and the Citroen DS3 WRC of Kris Meeke (SPK3788).

You can also get the winning Volkswagen Polo WRC of Sebastien Ogier (SPK3785), and the Hyundai i20 WRCs of Thierry Neuville (SPK3798) and Dani Sordo (SPK3799).

The best of the trio of 1:43 Trofeus was the Jim Clark Lotus Cortina from the 1966 RAC Rally (TRBRL07). This version features the damage sustained to the front wing of the car after Clark slid off sideways on the 40th stage at Loch Aray.

We must say that we’re very impressed with how Trofeu has managed to recreate the dents and scratches. It also comes in a really nice flip-lid box, and is limited to 1,204 pieces worldwide.

The other two releases were Rosemary Smith’s Ford Escort Mk.1 from the 1972 RAC Rally (TR544), and the Fiat 131 Abarth that Attilio Bettega drove in the 1980 San Remo Rally (TR1425).
