Minichamps Announces Its 2014 F1 Cars

posted in Diecast, Formula 1 |

Today, Minichamps revealed its announcements for the 2014 Formula One season.

The German company will be producing replicas, in both 1:18 and 1:43 scale, for just three teams this season: Red Bull, Mercedes and McLaren.

Excitingly, that means that Lewis Hamilton’s 2014 Mercedes F1 W05 (DC21444), Jenson Button’s 2014 McLaren MP4-29 (DC21422) and Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull RB10 (DC21401) will all be immortalised in 1:18.

This represents a significantly reduced F1 programme for Minichamps. It’s fair to say that, in 1:43 at least, Spark now leads the way in F1 model making.

Interestingly, Minichamps hasn’t announced any showcars for this year. Could this mean that Minichamps has decided to stop making showcars? Usually the showcars are announced before the race cars.

It’s also worth mentioning that neither Spark nor Minichamps announced this year’s Force Indias. It would be a great shame if the cars of Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez didn’t get replicated, and we hope that a model maker steps up to the plate soon.
