Resin Brands Rule The Roost!

Today it was all about resin replicas, as we received new deliveries from both Spark and Matrix.

Spark released some excellent 1:43 classic F1 subjects. The Lotus 12 that Graham Hill raced in the 1958 Monaco Grand Prix (SPK1833) is truly significant. The 12 was Team Lotus’s first F1 car, and Monaco 1958 was the scene of the first ever F1 race for both Lotus and Graham Hill.

We’re absolutely besotted with Emerson Fittipaldi’s Copersucar F5 from the 1977 Belgian Grand Prix (SPK3930). It’s a great looking car, which we never thought would be recreated in miniature. We also like Mike Thackwell’s Tyrrell 010 from the 1980 Canadian Grand Prix (SPK1885). In that race Thackwell, arguably, became the youngest driver to start a grand prix. This record wasn’t broken until Jaime Alguersuari made his debut in 2009.

Away from F1, Spark released Mikko Hirvonen’s Ford Fiesta RS WRC from the 2014 Monte Carlo Rally (SPK3790), and the Porsche 911 GT1 that Jorg Muller, Uwe Alzen and Bob Wollek drove to second place in the 1998 Le Mans 24 Hours (SPK4180).

The centre of attention on the Matrix delivery was the 1:43 1956 Bentley Continental S1 Park Ward that was owned by the actor David Niven (MX10201031). Other models worth mentioning include the 1:43 1970 Jaguar E-Type S2 Roadster in metallic gold (MX11001041), and the unusual 1:43 1956 Nash-Rambler Pininfarina Palm Beach in green.
