More Exciting News From Spark

posted in Endurance, Resin, Formula 1 |

Today Spark announced three new 1:18 subjects, and sent sample images of some very exciting 1:18 models that are due for release early in the New Year.

After announcing the 1:43 version last week, Spark confirmed that it will be replicating Lewis Hamilton’s 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix winning Mercedes F1 W05 in 1:18 (DC21444ADK) scale too. And, just like the smaller scale version, the replica comes complete with a driver figure holding the Union Jack.

The other two 1:18 announcements were from the world of endurance racing: the Porsche 956 that Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell drove to victory in the 1982 Le Mans 24 Hours (SPA18LM82), and the Lancia Beta Montecarlo that raced in the 1981 Le Mans 24 Hours in the hands of Michele Alboreto, Eddie Cheever and Carlo Facetti (SPA18S160). These two are just a few months away.

Also due for release in the not too distant future are two F1 world champions that have not yet been replicated in the larger scale before: Nelson Piquet’s Williams FW11B from 1987 (SPA18S118) and the Williams FW07 that was raced by Alan Jones in 1980 (SPA18S117), which is also available signed (SPA18S117S).

Spark has said that the Piquet car will arrive in February, and the Jones Williams will be released in March. Judging by the sample images, both of them are going to look brilliant. It looks like we’re in for a cracking start to 2015!
