The rear wing didn't just fall off. It was pressured until it snapped. The plastic was all ragged from the photos you posted.

Even if it was glued you'd still see the ragged plastic break. The only way to camouflage that would be with putty and paint to plug up the crack and or carbon fiber decals above the putty.

Got my replacement R29, not perfect but it's acceptable.  Haven't even had time to enjoy it yet, just a nervous scan for damage.

This:

...

Might be a trick of the eye, but i'm not sure if it's chipped down to the paint, or if it's silver decal stuck under the RENAULT decal  Huh, it's definately under the decal, so if it is damage, someone saw it, and decided to put the decal on anyway!  Angry

anyways, my adivce to anyone with minichamps QC issues, write to them direct:

service@minichamps.de

outline your problems and take pics of the damage where possible.  Hopefully we'll get some sort of reply/explanation/apology about the state of the products they are sending out.

Think i'm keeping this one, it's not really that big a deal compared to others.

Definately send them an email if you have a dodgey model, even if it's just one mistake.

I'll post up my email if they ever decide to reply  Roll Eyes

Thought I'd add some pictures of my R29 before it was sent back.

The most obvious fault when I opened it was the endplate having come off:

which I think had danced around the box en route to chip the sidepod:
i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii94/bigbobbyfrog/ce7537fe.jpg

but that doesn't explain the chipped orange decal under the sidepod:

Got mine..........the same problem..the like the above 3rd picture. The below side pod decals orange colour seems cracked! Apart from that, the rest of the part, as far as my eye can see concern, seems ok! The model IMO is at acceptable level but if given I buy from the store itself, I would have choose the below side pod decals that looks ok!

I don't know yet, they haven't replied to my reply.

OK fair enough the retailers should check models before sending them out, BUT Minichamps should be making sure that they don't reach the retailer in that kind of condition in the first place.  This isn't like getting damaged in the post, this is models leaving the minichamps factory with defects!

I've been to a couple of local shops, and bought my F1's from 2 different online retailers and each one has had defective models, so it's a widespread problem.

Sometimes its quite difficult for retailers to check those decals defects as some retailers are not as fuzzy as us. We are so professional in F1 models nowadays. The retailers just assure that the model is all right...all right means no loose parts. Those decals problems in the end had to blame back factory faults! I dont know if retailer knew that we as collectors are too fuzzy would accept such returns as the model is ok but only some minor cracks on decals.  Huh Huh
